PT Thoroughbreds are thrilled to welcome "Soudi" to the farm.
Of all of the yearlings identified
to meet our selection criteria and likely to be within budget, this girl was top of the list so we were absolutely thrilled to have been the successful bidder.
Her
sire, Star Witness, in just 13 starts racked up 2 Gr1 wins ( Blue Diamond and the Coolmore) 2 x Gr1 2nds ( The Kings Stand at Royal
Ascot and the Patinack) and a Gr1 3rd (Golden Jubille at Royal Ascot) as well as a Listed win, 2 x Listed 3rds and a 4th in the Schillachi (Gr2). Importantly, he won his first 3 starts as a 2YO including the listed Talindert Stakes and the Blue Diamond over
1000 to 1200m
Her Dam (Dasoudi) was equally prolific in terms of race results, running through her grades with 4 wins and 2 x 2nds in her first 6 races over 950 to 1400m.
She went on to record further wins over 1400m, a second behind the perpetual Group level performer Booming in the Group 1 Thorndon Mile and a further
Group 1 placing behind the even more perennial Group performed Keep The Peace (NZ) and Wall Street (NZ) in the Haunui Farm Group 1. Importantly, her 3rd, after being hampered at the 250m mark and held up until the 100m mark was in a Gr1 weight
for age.
Soudi is the Dam's second foal. Her first foal, a full brother to Soudi was sold to Hong Kong in the 2015 Inglis Ready2Race sale ( http://www.inglis.tv/rB3m )
and has been named Rich Regiment. He is being trained in Hong Kong by trainer Danny Shum Chap-shing who finished second in the 2015/16 trainer's
premiership.
Soudi, herself, is a striking filly with what we consider to be a perfectly proportioned confirmation. She presents as a powerful yearling, deep of girth and strong of back and quarters. Complementing this is her gentle nature and a level of intelligence evident even within days of her coming to the farm.
